Question 31
Part of the jurisdiction is on wells and cisterns. Does this work there?
Yes, with a different configuration. Where municipal pressure is unavailable, systems use a storage tank with a pump or a pressurized tank. An NFPA 13D system can also run off a well pump where the requisite pressure and duration are available, though the pump may need to be upsized. Where power supply is unreliable, a pressurized tank removes the dependence on electricity. Rural tank-and-pump systems have been estimated at around $5.00 per sprinklered square foot.
