Question 18
How does a residential sprinkler actually work?
A residential sprinkler is not the same system as in a warehouse. It is a small number of heads on the home’s domestic water supply, each holding a heat-sensitive element that opens only where heat reaches it. The head nearest the fire opens. The rest do not. Current systems are designed around one or two heads operating for seven to ten minutes.
